Boulder County Arts Alliance (BCAA) is a Colorado-based nonprofit supporting local artists. While the organization has a long-standing presence in the community, it lacked formal brand guidelines. This project focuses on developing a comprehensive brand style guide to provide staff and external partners with clear direction for applying BCAA’s visual identity and tone.
Boulder County Arts Alliance (BCAA), lacked formal brand guidelines and visual consistency across social media platforms and their website. Existing branding was not well documented and not clearly reflect the organization’s mission or values.
Objective:
Develop a comprehensive brand style guide that establishes a consistent visual and verbal identity, supports internal and external communications, and reflects BCAA’s approachable, inclusive, and community-focused values.
In order to better understand the brand, I began my process by conducting interviews with BCAA's communications director and communications manager to identify internal perceptions and aspirations for the brand.
Key findings:
After my interviews with BCAA staff, I worked to define a tone of voice that was personable, approachable, and community-focused. Additionally, I created additionally logo assets to improve visibility of their logo on a wider range of background colors.
I documented all of these changes into a comprehensive brand styleguide to provide internal staff with guidance for maintaining a consistent and cohesive brand identity moving forward.
Key features of the styleguide:
This project allowed Boulder County Arts Alliance to establish a clear, cohesive brand identity that reflects their mission and values. By providing clear documentation of their brand identity, they now have the tools to communicate consistently across digital and print platforms.
